BTMS-50 or Behentrimonium Methosulfate is a vegetable-based conditioning emulsifier. It is commonly used as an emulsifier for lotions and scrubs and especially hair conditioners.
BTMS-50 offers excellent detangling and conditions without the build-up often found with other quaternary conditioning agents. BTMS-50 will emulsify high levels of silicone and is a great emulsifier for use in skincare products. Behentrimonium Methosulfate is a quaternary ammonium salt derived from the natural plant oil Colza, otherwise known as Rapeseed Oil.
